Sneak Peek-- Black White and Bright

This morning I have been working on some patterns for the upcoming Saturday Surprise Sampler Blocks that we run at the store each year.
This is a sneak peek at what's to come!
(sorry for the blur factor, it wasn't intentional)
As you have noticed by now, the color scheme is "Black, White and Bright".
In working with the fabrics, I have started to group them into sets,
1. black, and black on black....
 2. White, with black prints
 3. Black, with white prints
4. Accents-- the brights, these are intense brightly colored monotone fabrics, which I haven't taken a photo of... .
the idea of the accent is that there will be a little bit of a bright color in each block.
(One thing that you can do is that if you want your accent to be the same in each block, you could just get a meter of some bright fabric that you love and substitute it in each block for the accent, and save all the varied bright pieces to use for some other project)

The first block is available on Saturday September 8th, which is fast approaching!
This year it also co-insides with the Show and Tell of last years blocks!  Be sure to mark that on your calendar!  We will start the Show and Tell at 10 a.m. sharp!  (Don't worry, we will have coffee and refreshments if that is early for you,     and even if it's not)
If you bring your project from last year to show, then you will get the first block kit free that day!

Some summer stitching

I've been telling people that I haven't blogged much lately because I haven't been sewing anything and therefore haven't had anything to say. That's mostly true but I did sew up a quilt top lately made out of strips sewn on to a fabric foundation. It is a sew and flip technique
I thought it would be nice to have a little gray border around the edge but I think this grey is a little too dark. I will have to wait until we get more of the lighter grey in but it's been backordered, alas.
I also tried a bit of crochet the other day with this fat grey wool yarn. I'm not topside where I'm going with it whether it will be a chunky little blanket or maybe a felted throw rug....
I justcame upon this amazing use of cross stitch, it is a scene capture so the URL where i got it is at the top of the photo.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Lately,

Lately I haven't been sewing much.  However, the back yard is looking pretty good, and the tiles in the sunroom are almost finished, and I have been doing a bit with clay.

We have quite a few birds in our back yard, including some half-grown robins (they are almost full size, but still have little downy bits on them):

And we had a nice visit with our own little baby, Christian, who turns out to like quilts quite a lot,

My Current Favorite Fabrics,

Well, being summer and all, my current Favorite Fabric grouping is Lucy's Crab Shack, by Sweetwater, mixed with a lot of white,
I've been working on a small quilt made completely with half-square triangles that uses some of these fabrics,

I have the pattern for it mostly written up, so hopefully it will be available soon.  This is a crib size quilt, and I quilted it simple vertical straight lines.  I think that might be called "channel quilting".

 I love shelves of colors,

Happy photos

I didn't have time to get to the studio to pick up my most recently fired pots before leaving Savannah to come back to Saskatoon. however, Lisa took some photos and put them up on the Clay Spot's Facebook page, which I really appreciated. So these are some of them...
I am really loving the effect of the screen printing combined with other brushwork
I've got the little backyard shed to a place where I can start making some things. Can't fire anything yet until I get the electrician in to put in some wiring and also need to replace elements in the little kiln too. One thing at a time I guess,
