Spools

I have started a new project. I decided that I needed some decorative spools to hold my special ribbons. So I am making some out of clay. I have posted about this on my Clay blog, but while I was thinking of doing this I googled some images of spools. These are some pictures that I found which are sort of interesting:

    I love spools...I have a jar full of wood ones (but then who doesn't?). The embroidered spools and the large spools with the flower ends really caught my eye. Fun!

    I am really curious to see how these turn out! If only all spools were beautiful. I'm always stuck with ugly plastic ones with no recycling symbol...

    yes patti! we all have some wooden spools stashed away somewhere! i remember my mom making little sheep out of them for me with the addition of some cotton batting and cardboard legs and heads! i had a whole herd of them at one time. my dad made me spool knitters out of them too - i only have one of them left...
    but i really like some of the ideas here...
    and, of course, your spools, michelle.

      I had spools with nails in to make spool knitting too. But we never thought of making sheep out of them. They are an interesting shape.

    I love the look of the black ink stamped on the wooden spools. wow. You found some great projects Michelle! I want to bling mine up and decorate the tree with them next... next... (winter - gasp!) I didn't say that.
