Which is great because if ever there was a time to be putting quilts together now is the time. A week ago on this day we became aware of the horrific accident involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team. As the days progressed and the full extent of injuries and fatalities become known, we quilters jumped in to do what we do best. Make quilts. Under the watchful eye of Wendy Toye, owner of the quilt shop in Humboldt, a call for quilts and quilt blocks was made. If you haven't heard about this initiative you can find more information at saskatoonmqg.com.
Sometimes the difficult part of an event such as this is accepting that life still moves along at it's usual pace but perhaps with a bit more appreciation for the fragility of life.
This month we are preparing to take a trip to Melville to have a booth at their Spring quilt show. The dates are Friday, April 20 and Saturday April 21, 2018, 10am to 4pm. The show will be held at the Community Works Building, 800 Prince Edward Street. Why not hop in the car and take a drive to Melville to check it out? From past experience there are a number of talented quilt makers in the area.
As always we continue to have much fun at the shop. We are getting in new fabric lines all the time. The most recent are Tilda's Sunkissed: We also have Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts' latest offering called Sequoia:
Andover's Tiger Kingdom:
A new Spring mix of fabrics from AGF:
A few AGF blenders:
Moon Rabbit which is uber cute and hopping out the door quickly:
And we also have a new book on Walking Foot quilting full of great designs. The exciting part of this book is the fact it was written by a Canadian quilter who hails from Manitoba!
As well, by popular request, we are hosting another Mini-Retreat April 27th and April 28th. Spaces are filling up so if you're interested please call the shop at 306-933-3072.
