As I type up this blog post we are almost to the middle of April. The days are longer but the temperatures remain below normal and the snow hasn't decided to leave. And we all know what that means....more sewing time!!
Which is great because if ever there was a time to be putting quilts together now is the time. A week ago on this day we became aware of the horrific accident involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team. As the days progressed and the full extent of injuries and fatalities become known, we quilters jumped in to do what we do best. Make quilts. Under the watchful eye of Wendy Toye, owner of the quilt shop in Humboldt, a call for quilts and quilt blocks was made. Sometimes the difficult part of an event such as this is accepting that life still moves along at it's usual pace but perhaps with a bit more appreciation for the fragility of life.
This month we are preparing to take a trip to Melville to have a booth at their Spring quilt show. The dates are Friday, April 20 and Saturday April 21, 2018, 10am to 4pm. The show will be held at the Community Works Building, 800 Prince Edward Street. Why not hop in the car and take a drive to Melville to check it out? From past experience there are a number of talented quilt makers in the area.

And we also have a new book on Walking Foot quilting full of great designs. The exciting part of this book is the fact it was written by a Canadian quilter who hails from Manitoba!
As for classes and events coming up in the shop, I am pleased to say that our Spring/Summer list of classes is now up on our website. We will have the paper copies in the shop by the 18th. There are lots of new classes and even a couple of kids sewing classes too! So take a minute and browse through and see if there is something that catches your eye.
As well, by popular request, we are hosting another Mini-Retreat April 27th and April 28th. Spaces are filling up so if you're interested please call the shop at 306-933-3072.
