Happy New Year Everyone!!
I hope you all had a lovely (or survived) the holidays. It goes by so quickly and is usually pretty fun but it's always nice to get back to routine and that means sewing!
The start to 2019 has been fun already here at the shop. We've started our annual UFO Challenge. Bring in your finishes (and a photo of their "before")for a chance to win a $50 Periwinkle Gift Certificate. For a chance at another opportunity to win you can buy your backings and battings at Periwinkle and enter to win your purchase amount back. The dates the challenge runs is January 9th to February 14th. All the details can also be found at the shop so please feel free to ask the next time you are in.
January is also bringing new kits to Periwinkle. We've got 6 new kits packaged up and ready for you to put together. We're madly sewing up the samples so that you see what they will look like. Kits are such a convenient way to get the materials needed for a quilt top without having to spend money on extra fabrics that you may not need.
Planning is also well under way for the renovations of our new location. Permits are ready, trades are organized to get started...and now we wait. Our actual move will happen the last weekend in March. We are going to have our grand re-opening Saturday, April 13th. Robyn Hufnagel of Nuthatch Stitched Goods will be teaching her fabulous pouch and Noodlehead waxed tote classes in our new classroom that day. Shelley and Bernie Tobisch will be promoting and doing demos for their books Precision Piecing and The Sewing Machine Handbook in the store. They will also be doing workshops at Periwinkle April 15, 16 and 17. We will have more information out on that soon. And of course there will be some great sales and some wonderful surprises and prizes.
As always we have new fabrics, patterns and books. The latest fabric is Voysey from Moda. These are reproduction fabrics based on prints from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Some reorders of Grunge Hits the Spot Widebacks and Kaffe Fassett widebacks are in the shop as well.
We have the new books from Shelley and Bernie Tobisch and the new Colossal Jelly Roll Rug pattern from Roma Lambston of the Jelly Roll Rug fame.
Our classes have begun for the Winter term with a Jelly Roll Rug and Ruler Quilting class already under our belts. Check out our website at www.periwinkle.biz/classes for a full listing and descriptions of our upcoming classes!
We will have another mini-retreat January 25 and 26th. We have a couple of spots left. It's always a fun weekend enjoying sewing time with other quilters and sharing ideas and creativity. Heck, it's just good to be with other people who are as crazy about quilting as we are!
So that's it for now! Remember to follow us on FB and IG for daily updates on what's arrived and/or going on at the shop. Next month I'll be able to share posts about the renos happening for our new location too. Until then, Happy Sewing!
