Blooms quilt show in Houston
One of the quilt shows was called Blooms, and it was comprised of the quilts made by Kaffe Fassett and Lisa Prior Lucy featured in the book of the same name.

Houston Quilt Market 2016, part three
Not all of the beautiful quilts are in the show part. The vendors have wonderful samples up in their booths,
Elizabeth Hartman's booth was adorable, and she won the prize for best single booth, unsurprisingly
she had made dozens of these really sweet fabric plants

Houston Quilt Market 2016, part two
Carolyn Friedlander is a quilter and fabric designer and architect, and book author. wow.
a close-up of some of the quilting,
There was a small but very interesting display of her work,
sorry about the spotlights shining right on the quilts,
as you can see, she really uses applique effectively. She has been a proponent of "slow quilting", where you just enjoy the process, even if it includes a bunch of hand stitching,
on the right side of the photo below are swarches of the fabrics she has designed for Rober Kaufman fabrics,
on the left is a small reverse applique quilt superimposed over a swath of the same fabric used in the quilt, these are some colored drawings she did that are realized in fabric in the quilt below,
the finished quilt is in the center, surrounded by the individual parts shown as they are during the process
this is another of her very well known quilts, Your Houston Correspondent Reports....
well I have been here in Houston for a few days now and have spent a little bit of time over at market. For the past two daysI have Started both mornings by looking at show quilts.
here are some closeups of some of them...
In the next post I will report on the Carolyn Friedlander exhibit,
I did take an amazing video which shows you the vast areas it shows cover and the startling emptiness of the Aisles. however I don't seem able to embed that in this post. You'll just have to take my word for it.
fortunately I have lots of photos of beautiful quilts to show. descriptions of the quilt and who made it will be in an accompanying photograph of the information posted with the quilt.
I first wanderedby some Japanese quilts, and was taken by the lovely quilting on some of the pieces,
I really loved this one, and the more I looked at it, the more details stood out,
the quilting,
the quilting,
Having our longarm Lucey around has really opened up a world of possibilities to explore.
(by the way, I apologize if some of the photos are blurry)
