New fabrics this week

Nancy sent me some photos of fabrics that arrived in the shop this week,

Some 1930's reproductions from Chloe's Closet, called Playtime.  I really like the Scottie dogs.

And a large group of French General called Le Bouquet Francais.  there are some beautiful soft yellows in this grouping,

It's raining here today, so I'm sure I'll spend time in my sewing room.  Yesterday I came down with a nasty cold so I slept a good part of the day.  Hope it goes away fast. 

Re-location Celebration April 12

It's been just over a month now since we made the big move from Grosvenor over to Broadway.  We are starting to remember where things are, and are even getting more stuff up on the walls 

We are happy to have big windows at the front, 

And we've got the Sampler blocks up

A nice ribbon section

And we even have a big classroom on the lower level!

So, I believe we need to celebrate by having an open house on Saturday, April 12 th. 

Please come and join us for goodies and socializing and maybe a surprise or door prize, 

Store furnishings update

This is the bulletin board that I was working on the other day.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out,

The idea is that it supposed to look like a piece of looseleaf or lined paper.  I added a few photo transfer images that I had in my drawer,  the bottom left-hand image is from a children's picture book of Snow White,

I am constructing a ware cart.  It is made of wood and plumbers pipe.  There is still a bit more to add to it, but I have to crochet more pipe covers before I can add the other pieces.

Planning the new store space

I mentioned in an email to the mailing list and on the store web-site that we will be moving in February, but I realize that I haven't mentioned it here on the blog. 

We are coming to the end of our lease at Grosvenor and have found a new spot on Broadway Avenue!

It is right between the Nutana Bakery (!!!) and Extra Foods.  Most recently it housed a computer place, but before that it was a Credit Union.

It has some parking out front, but a really great twelve space parking lot at the rear of the building just for us!

These are the before photos , we will be doing some pretty big changes to the space.  It is very exciting, 

The area is a bit larger than we have now, but there is also a full basement where we hope to have a great big sewing room!

There is lots to do-- lighting, signage, taking out some walls, but it will be a lot of fun to re-vamp our look,
