New dyed wool and new booklets

I spent some time on Saturday with my dye pot,  dyeing wool for the store.  We have been terribly low on green and reds,
I made a start on those colors, but I see that I need to do some oranges and yellow as well!

On another note, we have Started to stock a new line of booklets called Modern Quilts Illustrated:

They are written by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr.  There are several projects in each booklet, which is very reasonably priced at $17 (Canadian ).
This is one of my favourite projects from one of them

Sandy's Modern Quilt

So many people have taken a class from Sandy cook that she needs no introduction. Lately she has offered a quilt class on modern improvisational quilting And also one on free motion quilting with the modern design focus. This is the sample that she brought into show people what the classes would be about.
The front has sections of different techniques
The back Shows off some of the leftover blocks.
The large areas of gray really show off the free motion quilting.

It makes me want to just dive in and try some of these blocks. Any of them would make a fabulous quilt just on their own. If you want to take the class we just recently set some new times for after Christmas.  http://www.periwinkle.biz/classes.html
If you want to register for one of the classes, you can just Dropinto the shop to register, or even just make a phone call at 933–3072.

Also, if you like this style of quilting, just a reminder that there is the modern quilt guild that meets twice a month, you might like to go to their meetings.

One mini charm pack table runner

I finished the table runner that I mentioned a couple days ago. I wish I could come up with a better name for it, maybe something like floating squares. Anyway, it's composed from one many charm pack and a background fabric.

And the big news is that not only did I finish the table runner, but I have written up the Pattern for it. :)
That's the pattern right there,
This afternoon I'll be taking it to Staples and getting lots of copies made. You can get one for the low price of one dollar.

Oh yes, another thing is if you get three mini charm packs you can make three sections and sew them together for a really cute little baby quilt that would measure about 42" x 50". Yay.
It was so sunny this morning when I got up, and I saw this vase of delphiniums that I cut yesterday from the garden and they look so pretty in the light.
